Stress can be a normal response to certain situations which can be beneficial to us. Stress responses help your body adjust to new situations, it can be positive, keeping us alert, motivated and ready to avoid danger. The nervous system controls your heart rate and breathing, it has an in built stress response called the ‘fight or flight’ response which helps the body to tackle a stressful situation. However, when you have continued stress where your body is reacting to challenging times or situations, and your ‘fight or flight’ response is engaging all the time, then this can really take its toll on your health and well being.

Long term stress has physical, emotional and behavioral consequences. When you feel out of control and overwhelmed, maybe having panic attacks, unable to sleep properly and not feeling in control, counselling can help you. Our goal is to effectively manage stress so you can live a happier and healthier life. We will review your current life practices, what is working for you and what isn’t, and together we will identify what is causing the stress in your life. By talking and taking action you will become clearer, build strength and become more resilient to deal with difficult situations and times.
